Islander Stay

Wonderful unit to stay in. Very clean and comfortable. Only problem I encountered was I ran out of soap and shampoo/conditioner the last 2 days. I called their office for more but never received it.

— Girl, Stayed 03/09/2020

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, Thank you for posting a review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and had a wonderful time. We appreciate your comments about the fact that the unit was clean and comfortable. You mentioned running out of shampoo and soap but please realize this is a individually owned unit and it does not supply but an initial travel size shampoo and conditioner and bar soap. It is up to the guests to supply their own toilettries after the travel size is used. Also please note that the office at the resort is a separate enity and does not represent the individually owned units. Therefore any calls should have been directed to us as our emails do indicate as we are the property managers at Vacation Realty Hawaii. We do hope you can return again soon!

Great condo

Very clean, well equipped condo. Within walking distance of shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc. Loved the pool/hot tub area with Tiki Bar. Perfect for 2 people. Parking was provided.

— Deborah, Stayed 02/17/2020

islander review

The place is wonderful and had everything anyone would need for a stay in Hawaii. Boogie boards, snorkel gear, ice chest, and beach chairs. The only negative that I could think of is that we did not have any housekeeping service in our 9 day stay and we could have used a bedding change and more toilet tissue. Other than that, we loved it! less

— sandra, Stayed 12/16/2019

Nice and neat vacation rental

No complaints about this great location condo. Central location with lots of extras. From climate control to bed mattress we felt very comfortable.

— Sandra, Stayed 09/16/2019

Kauaii vaca

Had a nice stay. Room was nice and comfortable. T.V. did not work for a couble of days, but they had Spectrum come and fix the TV eventually.

— Josine, Stayed 06/07/2019

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Josine, Thank you for your review upon our request. We do appreciate your feedback. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at unit 137 at the Islander on the Beach. We are sorry that the TV had some issues while you were there. Of course with all electronics, they can have unexpected issues arise and getting an appointment scheduled can take some time., However we are glad that we were able to get someone there so quickly and get it resolved. We hope you can come again soon!

Condo 137

My parents and I all loved the location of the condo. Only a few feet from pool and a nice walk to beach. We drove all over Kauai but always a treat to come back at the end of the day to our condo. So clean and had everything we needed. We used the cooler and beach chairs. We used the grills by the pool. I would highly recommend this to any one wanting to visit Kauai. less

— Jerry J, Stayed 04/21/2019

Noisy

The property is conveniently located and clean. Its has adjoining apartment door though and the neighbors were loud with voice and television. Also I didnt realize there is a $370. One time fee. That made a one night stay about $500.

— Enoch, Stayed 04/05/2019

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Enoch, Thank you for taking the time to give us a review for the unit 137 at the Islander on the Beach. We do apologize for the loud neighbors but it is not the standard for guests to be loud and is not typical. We have not had that complaint before. We are sorry that you did not contact us during your stay and let us know aobut the noise as we could have helped with that. I believe you are mistaken about a one time fee of 370 dollars. As I did write to you after you sent in this review letting you know that this is not a charge from us. Hopefully you have checked with your credit card company to see where this charge might have been from and have gotten it straighten out. Our charge to you was as we quoted and totaled much less than this one time fee you are speaking of.

1st Kauai visit

Very nice facility. Well kept grounds, friendly courteous staff, conveniently located. My condo was decent, clean and well furnished for my needs. I felt it was appropriately priced. I would return if the opportunity came.

— Chris, Stayed 04/04/2019

Great place to stay

Clean, comfortable and well positioned. Not quite ocean front and a partial ocean view offset by beautiful grounds and amenities. Close to Kapaa and the condo has nice touch in the provision of a cooler, deck chairs, boogie boards and some beach toys. Very quiet peaceful getaway. We would certainly consider again in future less

— Kevin, Stayed 03/31/2019

Excellent condo, perfect location

We stayed here for 3 days before moving on to a bigger condo in princeville. It is a perfect location close to the airport and was easy to find and access even arriving at 11:00pm. Being steps away from the pool and beach was great and the condo soundproofing was surprising. We never heard anyone above or beside us the whole 3 days. Yes, there were people there ;-). There are enough applicances in the condo to eat simply, but you might miss the absense of a stove if that’s your thing. The BBQ’s are right by the pool though and the restaurant Lava Lava is fantastic and right on the beach a stones throw away anyways. The pool bar is great, but we just ran over to ABC at the condo entrance to get booze as it is far cheaper. People complain about a slow draining shower, yep, it drains slow. Who really cares about a slow draing f*&@#ing shower anyways!? Water falls, you clean your burnt bits and you step out and get dry! less

— James, Stayed 03/24/2019

Needs maintenance

The lighting was too dark. It could use more lamps. The light above the kitchen sink flickered. It needs replacing. The bathroom fan did not work. The kitchen area is not what I call a condo kitchen more of a kitchenette in a motel. Needs general cleaning and maintenance. less

— James, Stayed 03/19/2019

Islander On The Beach

Location can’t be beat. Easy walk to beach for sunrise with nice pool and hot tub. Shopping center right next door for supplies and morning gourmet coffee. Decor was a bit dated in this unit. We would stay here again based on location and grounds/landscaping but would ask for an unit that was recently refurbished. The unit did come with a small cooler and beach chairs. Overall a nice experience. less

— Steve, Stayed 03/12/2019

We'll be back

Our stay was short but sweet. After missing or Friday day due to a canceled flight, we were welcomed with a Hawaiian care package and a comfortable set of amenities. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer! Thank you.

— Eric, Stayed 02/19/2019

Great location, but needs updating desperately!

Condo was in the perfect position, view of the ocean and almost poolside. However it needs updating desperately. The bath filled up with water while we showered, some sort of drainage problem. The shower head doesnt work properly, just sprays everywhere. There was filth and mold below the fridge. All these issues were reported to the Condo agency. On the upside, the beds were comfortable and amenities good. less

— Sanja, Stayed 02/18/2019

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Sanja, thank you for taking the time to respond to our request for a review on unit 137 at the Islander on the Beach. We are glad you liked the location, the bed and the amenities. The condo is privately owned so upgrades and decor is really specific to what the owners enjoy. The owners have in the last couple years repainted the unit, got new high quality window coverings, new bed quilts and added a ceiling fan. With any future upgrades, comes higher prices and guests are very happy with the reasonable pricing that is on this property. I am sure that if you reported the concerns about the tub, shower head and dirt beneath the mini fridge, it was taken care o fdurig your stay as long as you did not do it just before you left. We are very attentive to any needs that the guests report to us.

Very comfortable!!

For our last two days in Kauai, we stayed in #137 at the Islander on the Beach and were very happy with the condo. We also appreciated the good communication & efforts from the VRBO representative who helped to get us in slightly earlier than anticipated. The condo was very clean and all features in good working order and as described in the rental advertisement. The grounds are very well kept and the Beach Bar & Pool area also fun & comfortable to spend time at. If we're fortunate to come back to Kapa'a, we'll certainly want to stay here again! less

— Mary, Stayed 02/12/2019

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Mary, Thank you for your kind words in the review for unit 137 at Islander on the Beach. We are happy to hear you found the unit clean and comfortable and it suited your needs. Just for clarification you were not communicating with a VRBO representative about getting in early as they are just the booking site. We at Vacation Realty Hawaii are the management and did all the communicating for the owner in regards to anything to do with the reservation and unit. We are glad it worked out that you were able to get into the unit a bit earlier than the normal check in time. We are glad to hear you would like to come back and we hope you can in the near future!

Great stay!

We stayed at the Islander for 3 nights. Noticed that there was no coffee pot, and the first morning a band new one was delivered. Beautiful, well-maintained grounds. Great location for walking to shops and restaurants. We would stay again if ever in Kapaa'

— Mary J, Stayed 01/31/2019

Had a great time

We stayed in the unit for a couple of nights completely enjoyed the location and the unit was clean and nice and bug free which I loved the view from the lanai spectacular and the location to Coconut marketplace was the best thank you so much and yes we would love to return on another trip less

— Ann, Stayed 01/18/2019

Fun spot

Our stay was great. The tiki bar popularity was a great surprise. There is a community feel amongst the guests who seem to stay here often. The condo itself was in a great spot for activities, walks, and food. There were plenty of towels, kitchen was compact and maybe could use an update. Our coffeemaker was not working and we went out for coffee. That is the only reason 4 stars instead of 5. less

— Brenda, Stayed 01/15/2019

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Brenda, Thank you so much for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry you had a problem with the coffee maker and wish you had called us so we could have resolved it right away for you. We just got this review and the mention of the coffee maker not working and we have had 3 other guests who have not mentioned it as a problem since your departure. We will check it out though to make sure it is working. We hope you can come back again soon.

central location

we stayed 2 nights before heading down to Poipu area. Overall central location, very close to shopping and restaurants right next door (coconut marketplace) The grounds was beautiful and the condo was perfectly situated right by the pool and beach. We would stay here again. Located on first floor, steps from beach and the pool. Stocked with 4 beach chairs, towels and few toys. We had no issues with our stay. less

— Susan, Stayed 10/23/2018

i was not thrilled with the place

no TV reception, bath tub very slippery, and very slow to drain when using shower, broken lock on lanai sliding door, pool bar ran out of beer daily, no laundry facility. probably will not return next year.

— richard, Stayed 09/20/2018

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Richard,Thank you for your review for the unit 137 at the Islander on the Beach.  Regarding the issues you are mentioning in the review, we are wondering why you did not contact us during your stay.  We have not had any problem with the TV getting reception so it might be that you were not using the correct remotes or functions.  We could have helped you with that if you had called us.  We also could have taken care of a slow tub drain for you.  The sliding door has a latch lock to use instead of the handle type lock which I am sure you must have seen so it was secure.  We do not advertize a laundry facililty for use and it is not an amenity that comes with this unit.   The resort is a separate enity from us but we will inquire about their supplies running out at the pool bar but we have never heard this before from any quests.

Wonderful stay at Condo 137

Our stay in Kapa'a at the Islander on the beach, condo 137 was absolutely perfect! We loved the location of the condo, along with the pool and hot tub available for use. There is also a beach at this resort, which is nice to walk on and watch the sunrise but I suggest driving a few minutes to find wonderful beaches in Poipu/Polihale etc. if you're looking to get into the water! First off- this location is perfect for seeing the island (centrally located), so traveling north or over to the west side is not far. Next, the condo is located within a loop where theres a wonderful, wonderful shop called the Coconut Marketplace (which we called the Co-Pa) where you can buy literally anything, and most of the time it's more reasonably priced than walmart etc. There's great food there to buy (like a grocery style) and also freshly prepared. We fell in love with this shop - make sure you save your receipts because every $100 goes towards a free gift. Next, this condo in particular had great A/C, a cooler/beach supplies, snorkel equipment, anything you could need! Also, the kauai guidebook in the nightstand was very helpful for us as well to find our way around the island. I highly recommend this location and this condo- no issues whatsoever! less

Kapaa on the Beach

Was a great stay! Condo was perfectly located next to the bar, pool, hot tub and beach :) also centrally located close to several beaches and other places in the area. Considering I was only I was only there over night I was able to cover a lot of ground in a short period of time. My only complaint on the condo was the bad drainage in the shower :-( last thing I wanted to deal with at the end of a great day when trying to get cleaned up. Also all the rules for towels and what not that applied in rule sections and documentation. If you are going to try and charge for these types of things if damaged make sure they are high end or quality towels and linens. I didn't have an issue and I'm not sure on your charge for these type things but maybe consider upgrading these things. I would def stay again. Thx less

— Rhonda, Stayed 08/13/2018

Gorgeous grounds

The grounds was just beautiful and the condo was perfectly situated right by the pool and beach. The condo is located in a great area with shopping and restaurants right next door. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice clean, a great place to stay. Liked the location.

Short and Sweet Kaua'i Visit

The condo was very nice, stocked with lots of towels, kitchen items, and beach necessities :) This condo is located on the first floor, very close to the pool and beach. It was perfect for us, and very easy to find. The location itself is extremely convenient to everything you may need, but quiet. I also appreciated not being able to hear the people upstairs, which is common in condo/apartment settings. I would definitely stay here again. less

Condo review

Enjoyed my time there. Condo was clean, the view was great, and nice shops close by.

Islander on the beach

Islanders on the beach was an amazing location with great amenities. The condo was located right next to the pool and a few steps to the beach. It is on the ground floor which made it easy to get in with all our bags. It's also more convenient not having to go up or down stairs when coming or going. It also has a number of small shops located near the parking lot. Overall an excellent place to stay. less

— John, Stayed 02/09/2018

Perfect!

Having stayed at the Islander in various units many times with my 5 year old daughter over the years, I can confidently report that #137 is one of the best! The furnishings are top notch and the attention to details — a new dish sponge, lots of extra towels, the availability of beach gear, etc., rivals amenities found at any 5* hotel. The heating/cooling/ventilation system also bears mentioning because the room stayed miraculously dry and fresh despite the proximity to the ocean and daily rain during our stay. Even our bathing suits and towels hung on the hooks in the bathroom dried quickly. Noise was never an issue, despite being next to the pool bar. The location of the unit made for convenient quick trips to the neighboring (and newly-renovated) Coconut Marketplace. Service was prompt and friendly when we had a minor issue checking in. We look forward to our next stay! less

— A.N., Stayed 01/01/2018

Wonderful price for a great location!

We booked this condo for its affordability and were pleasantly surprised! The location was great as Kapa'a is centrally located for exploring the island. Great resort (pool, hot tub, bar). The beach out front was nice but not really swimmable (could of just been time of year though). Was walking distance to downtown Kapa'a. The unit itself was well equipped with a basic kitchenette, boogie boards, beach chairs, towels, cooler etc. The only reason I wouldn't rate 5 stars is ut definitely could use some cosmetic updates as it is kind of dated, with some stains on the chairs, cupboards peeling etc but didn't really affect our stay at all. The bed was very comfy! Would stay here again for sure and will recommend to any friends traveling to Kauai. less

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, Thank you for your review!  We are happy you liked the unit and would like to come again and recommend it.   It is a very reasonable unit and the location is great!  It is stocked with some of the convienences you might not expect.   The owner of this unit has put in some work in the last year on this unit some to include upgraded blinds/window coverings and a ceiling fan.  He was just here on island this month making some more improvements including interior paint. Thank you for your comments and we will take a look at what you have mentioned. We hope you can come back again soon!

Comfortable and well located condo

Aloha, We had a good time at the Islander. The condo was comfortable and well located, ideal for exploring the entire island. The staff were welcoming at the front desk to retrieve the parking badge and the gardens were lovely and well kept. We enjoyed the small welcome bag. The room was ok and well equipped. However, I'm sorry to say but it was not very clean. There was a layer of dust on the fan blades (we never used it to not disperse the dust). The plates were dirty, there were still traces of food stuck on them, we only used the cleanest ones. There was no sponge to do the dishes and we had to buy one. The floor was not very clean too. Finally, there were stains on the sheets. It is not my practice to criticize but, as you charge for cleaning, I had to warn you to avoid from happening again for other guests. The impression was of a household in a hurry, even the beds were made up quickly. However, we will be pleased to come back in the future. less

Aloha, Thank you for your review.  We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and would like to come back.  We so wish you would have contacted us durning your stay so that we could remedy anything that might have needed attending to.  We do respond immedicately to concerns from our guest and take them seriously.  We hope you do return in the future.

Aloha, Mahalo for the rating of 5!  We are glad you loved the condo and would like to come back again.  It is a great unit at a reasonable price!

Condo 137, Islander on the Beach

Directions to finding condo 137 within this condo/hotel complex were very clear. It's conveniently located close to the main lobby, parking area, and the pool. Accessing the lock-box for the keys to the unit was a slight challenge, especially if checking in late at night. Two keys were provided, however that became worrisome; we didn't want to lose or misplace the keys and be charged. Once inside we found all amenities in place except the bath soap/body wash.. Luckily there's an ABC store located in a shopping complex adjacent to the condo complex; they close at 10:30pm. Also found that when taking a shower, the hotter the water required, the more restrictive the volume of water coming out; seems like it has a water restrictor on the shower head. Bath drain also ran a little slow. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there even if it was for only two nights. This unit may be able to accommodate 4, however it's ideally made for two. Would I return for another stacation, definitely. less

— Samuel, Stayed 06/04/2017

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, Thank you for posting a review for the unit 137 at the Islander on the beach.  We are happy to hear you found the unit easily per our instructions and you found the unit to be conveniently located.   We do provide one bar soap but we do apoligize if it was not provided.  The shower does not have a restrictor on the shower head so we are not sure why you might have experienced a lower flow but we will take a look at it. We wish you would have called about the slow drain as we could have taken care of that.   It is often found that lots of sand get put down the drain instead of rinsed off out side unforturnately causing the drain to be slow. We are hoping you will come again soon!

May 2017 Kauai vacation

The condo was everything we could have wanted for our vacation - felt like home. Very centrally located to get around the island. Went to a wedding at the Grand Hyatt, which was so beautiful, but decided if we had the choice of the Grand Hyatt or Islander on the Beach...we would choose the condo. Will definitely be back and recommend. less

Aloha,   Thank you for your review as it is much appreciated.  It is a great compliment to have you say "it felt like home"  It certainly is a good location to be central to the island.  We do hope you can come back and thank you for your recommendations.

liked our stay

price is great, room and bathroom is clean, furniture are a bit old. beach chair in the furniture have mold, understand it's the humid weather. community is very nice and well managed, take advantage of the pool and grill! overall we are satisfied. will rent again if return to Kauai. less

Condo on the Beach

The condo is on a very nice beach and the barbecues out at the pool deck were great for dining outside. It would have been nice if the condos had a kitchen in them, but I'm not sure we would have used it that much anyway, so it worked out just fine. The room was nice and clean. We would definitely stay here again when vacationing in Kauai. less

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at unit 137 at the Islander on the Beach.  This unit is a studio unit and does have a convenient kitchenette which does come in handy. Cooking down at the grills is also a nice option.  We are happy to hear you would come again and we certainly hope you will.  Thank you for your business.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful location

We had an excellent stay and will definitely stay here again! Our unit had everything you could possibly need. We were provided beach chairs, snorkel sets, beach towels and a lovely welcome package upon arrival. The kitchen is extremely well stocked right down to cling wraps, spices for cooking and paper towels. While we didn't cook it would have been very easy to do so. From unit #137 you can see the pool and ocean. We could hear the ocean crashing onto the beach from our room! The Lava Lava beach club (restaurant) is a 2 min walk down the beach and has tables set right on the sand beside the ocean, we ate and had drinks here several times and it was very nice. We also enjoyed the laid back feeling of Kapaa, having previously stayed in Poipu. Kapaa was more centrally located to the attractions we wanted to visit and less pretentious than Poipu. Unit #137 is not a large suite but was comfortable for the 3 of us and we really don't spend alot of time in our room when on holidays as we like to be on the go, exploring all the wonderful places Kauai has to offer. The grounds of the Islander on the Beach were beautifully landscaped and extremely well maintained. We loved staying here and can't wait to plan our next trip. Mahalo! less

Steps from the Sand

Wonderful accommodation. Love the tiki torches at night. The poolside bar did get a little loud, but not too bad. Everyone was just having a good time. The room was clean and very comfortable. Nice patio area and steps from the sand. I'll be back.

— Leila, Stayed 02/06/2017

Exceeded our expectations.

This property exceeded our expectations. Four adults and a baby stayed here and it was so comfy, and very clean and tidy. Great location of the unit in the complex. It was on the ground floor so we spent most of our time on the patio and the baby could crawl around on the grass in front. It was to windy to swim at the beach while we were there but great to have a beer at night while the sun went down. The location of the unit meant we didn't get the wind so we could sit outside. We were right by the pool BBQ area. Great BBQ's exceptionally clean! Complex is in a fantastic location, close to supermarkets, restaurants, shops ect. We hired a car and a car park was included. A beautiful island with so much to see and do. Couldn't ask for more, great value for money. less

Room for improvement

Nice location, close to pool. The unit was very well stocked with useful items like sand chairs, boogey board, cooler and kitchen necessities. It was frustrating that the shower did not drain, one of the 2 lights over the bath vanity was out and the safe did not work. It took us several days to discover how to operate the paddle fan in the living area. There wasn't any space to store luggage as we felt cramped. Curtains/drapes opened in the opposite direction as the sliding door, making it difficult to get in and out. The price was reasonable and we had a good time but it's not likely we will stay there again. less

— MARK, Stayed 11/07/2016

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha, Thanks for sending in your review and letting us know you found the unit to be in a good location and stocked well.  We wish you would have called us about the drain as we could have sent someone over to take care of it as well as the vanity lights. The ceiling fan is brand new and a nice addition to this unit. The owner just a few days ago did have new blinds installed instead of  the drapes which are very high quality and they do open from the other direction.  The owner also has gotten new bed quilts. Thank you again for your feedback.

FUN TIMES ON KAUAI

What a fantastic place! Condo (Studio) was exceptionally clean. We had a view of the pool, bar and ocean, for a very low price. Lots of schops and resturaunts nearby. Great place to relax.

I have visited the Hawaiian islands several times before but I wanted to have a different experience before a conference in Honolulu. I chose to spend 6 days in Kaua'i and I am so glad I did. It's not a 4 star resort but it was very relaxing and a very short and easy drive from the airport which was welcome after a long trip from the mainland. It was always easy to find a parking space and I easily made it to #137. Although you don't have an "ocean view" you are close enough to hear the waves and you are right next to the pool. It was nice to have the welcome bag and free bottle water. I walked over to the fish market restaurant to get some amazing fish tacos my first night then a drink at the pool bar and we had a local musician playing at the pool while I ate my dinner on the patio. Great first night! It was wonderful to have a fully stocked kitchen and room. I really enjoyed the fan since I sleep with a fan at home. I would walk over to the little mall across the parking lot for the ABC store to pick up snacks, drinks, or things I had forgotten. They had a free hula show from a local dance school that was cute and fun to watch. Being in a central part of the island, I explored almost everything without much driving time and never getting lost. The beach and water along the Islander were a bit rough but it was stormy when I was there. Some other beaches on the island seemed more family friendly, but that is not what I was looking for. As I was sitting one morning on the beach, a monk seal glided along the water just feet away from me, lifted his head up to look at me, then kept on swimming along. After my six days here, I stayed at a 4 star resort in busy Wakiki and I missed my time in laid back Kaua'i. less

Wonderful affordable vacation

We spent 8 nights at IOB in room 137 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were there with our 10 and 6 year old children and were very comfortable. It is a huge plus to be on the ground floor so the kids can run in and out to the grass outside and have easy access to the pool. Just wipe those feet! And make sure you keep the sliding door shut or the AC gets upset, take that seriously. We noticed a few drips and shut it down for the day while we were out which fixed it right up. But if we had not been paying attention, the system would have been compromised. We had no issues with the WiFi, and we streamed videos on tablets. The beach has a close reef, so you need to be aware and careful. We are a surfing family, but only dad went out here. But it was perfectly fine for playing in the sand and wading, especially in the beautiful morning light with a cup of tea. We walked down past the restaurant in front of the Outrigger Hotel to the small protected swim area too. I don't think many people are aware of this option. There were beach toys, boogie boards, a cooler and chairs that we happily used daily on our adventures. The condo was nicely stocked. We brought a ziploc of tea and condiment packets to aid our food preparations. We ate dinner at the condo every night. We used the bbq grills by the pool, people were more than happy to share, and bought fresh bread and made salads. That, plus other simple breakfasts and lunches, and we only ate out for lunch three times and some fun treats. You can do a lot with a microwave, toaster oven and electric kettle, plus Safeway and Longs down the street. My only suggestion would be to provide a small rice cooker, it not only cooks rice but also steams vegetables. And to provide dishes for four instead of three. We also found ourselves microwaving food in coffee mugs because we did not want to use plastic bowls. Though we were not official guests of the hotel, the staff and bartenders were very friendly and we also enjoyed some of the local crowd that were there to hang out. We did not have housekeeping services, but it was very easy to do a quick sweep of the floor every day and make sure we were hanging wet towels to dry. Plus no dirty bodies or shoes on the beds. I highly recommend this unit! It made our Kauai vacation possible because of it's affordability. The grounds were beautiful, the pool well maintained, and the unit clean and comfortable. And not so pristinely perfect that I felt anxious having my children there. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for the nice review. It seems like we're missing some plates, as there should have been enough for 4 or 5. I will have the management company take inventory. The A/C dripping became a big issue after you left and caused a lot of damage to one of the beds, so we just replaced both beds in the unit and had to have the A/C drainage pipe cleared out. This will probably fix the dripping issue, but it is a good idea for future renters to keep the doors closed when the A/C is running.

Excellent stay

Nice room with a good location and nice friendly staff. Would stay again if we come to Kauai. Only thing staff said we couldn't use Landry services or rent movies since we rented from a private owner but they was a note on the door saying we did have the same privileges as everbody else so wasn't sure. Other wise nice location in Kapaa central to do many things and nice pool bar and trees next door and view of the sunrise on this side of the island. Loved it ! less

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha Mahalo for the rating of 5!  This unit is in a good location central on the island making going North or South convenient.  This unit does have a private owner which do have use of most all of the amenities.  However recently the laundry facilities have been closed to the private owners. We did not know there were movie rentals on site but right down the street there are places to rent movies if one would so choose.  There also is a laundromat just a couple miles down the road if you need to do any laundry.  We are so glad you loved it and hope you can come back.

Condo 137 in Islander Beach Resort - Excellent!

Excellent - if one word could describe it. Kapaa is a central location and it is a town which is not commercialized as much as Poipu and Hanalei. Condo owner Kresten is super nice. Condo is well maintained and the complex has all amenities - it is steps away from the beach. The condo had everything one would need. Close to market place and restaurants. We had read other reviews before we booked - the complaint was the internet connection and parking. There is a router in the condo itself which is very fast and the parking may be limited but there is a plenty of parking few steps away. So not to worry. The only regret we have is that we could not stay there more than 4 days as our tickets were booked to come back - would have enjoyed the place more. We would stay in the condo again on our next trip and certainly recommend others to stay. As a matter of fact we already mentioned it to our friends. Kudos to the owner and the manager of the property! Mahalo. less

Excellent Condo Rental

This condo rental was perfect for us and we enjoyed it very much. The convenience of having all the items in the room for us to use was a huge plus. It was everything that we wanted during our stay .

Sun and Fun

Nice place to stay and play. Centrally located in Kapaa. Relaxing and quiet location with a nice pool and hot tub. The room can sleep 4 (2 Adults and 2 Children) easily. Would be nice to have at least a Queen size bed (1) and a sleeper sofa so in the evening you have a comfortable place to sit and relax in the room. Comes with a toaster oven and microwave and plates and bowls and utensils. We would stay in this room again. The property management folks are great to work with. less

Owner/Manager Response

We appreciate your time in posting the review for the Islander on the Beach unit 137.  This is centrally located which does offer a good starting point to go North or South in your island ventures.  This unit does have two double beds which accommodates the 4 guests instead of a sofa sleeper.  The kitchenette is a nice touch for some food preparation and the BBQ's on the grounds does add to the ability to cook. As property management we do try to work with our guests to have a great vacation!  Please come back soon!

WiFi didn't work

The condo itself was pretty nice... Very nicely located on the beach and with a pool, and the cleanliness and quality of the apartment was good. When we got there at 230 the cleaning lady was still cleaning and told us to come back after 3, so they are very strict about the check in time. The WiFi didn't work and we contacted their office. We had to wait around for them to call back and then for a guy to come out to the condo. It took them about 24 hours but they did get it working. Apparently there has been frequent problems with the Wi-Fi. I was visiting for work and had to pay to stream Wi-Fi from a independent server, and the management team refused to pay for the fees that I had to pay to use this wi-fi. less

— E and A, Stayed 03/13/2016

Owner/Manager Response

We appreciate you taking the time to post a review for us.  Thank you for your comment on the condo, the location and the cleaniness!  The schedules for cleaning can be different depending on each days check ins and outs so therefore sometimes we do have to stick to the 3pm check in time but if we can accommodate, we will.  We do state in our policies that we are not responsible for any third party services that are out of our control such as TV or internet.  We do try to resolve the problem as soon as we can.  Although we do not often have too many problems with reception, it it an island and may not be as reliable as the mainland or other areas.

Nice Stay But....

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this unit. Unfortunately, it could have been better. The unit was clean, neat and provided the bare essentials needed to vacation IF one is willing or able to economize by having a car to shop at the nearby WalMart (Kapaa) or Safeway (Lihue) to buy simple meal choices that require nothing but a fridge, microwave or super small toaster (suitable for warming pastries) oven. Unfortunately, the lack of even a simple hot plate really limits your meal choices. But if you look hard enough, you can still find some fairly decent microwaveable meal choices. WIFI access was only available from our room's modem and router on the 1st day. After that, we woke up to find a red light flashing on the modem as I recall. We tried to reset both in the customary sequence but this did not correct the problem during the remainder of our stay. Fortunately, I had a tablet with cellular access, so internet access was still possible. Granted, in all fairness to the owner(s) or management, we *could* have complained but we spent so much time away touring that these were not deal breakers. less

Owner/Manager Response

Thank you for the review, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. We will have the WIFI looked at right away. We haven't heard of any issues with it in the past, but you never know with technology. Just a note on the hot plate idea: we are not allowed to have them per our condo by-laws, so we offer what we can. We're hoping that will change someday. Mahalo, IOB 137 Owners

Budget stay @ its best

Unit #137 provides value on a budget. The 90's furnishings (beds--mattress, pillows; chairs, tables, lighting) are tired & could use an update and the entire unit could use a good steam clean. Overall, as clean as it can be. To set expectations, it's like staying at your Auntie's apartment on the beach. Had an issue w/ slow draining bathtub & AC condensation leakage. The on-island contact quickly took care if it -- thank you! Suggestions: - A fold-able drying rack for beach towels & swimsuits - Bed side reading lights or over head ceiling lighting - Portable oscillating stand fans (sometimes the AC is too much in winter) The pros: - budget price; professional contacts; ease of booking - central (east) island location; proximity to LIH, stores/restaurants, driving to island activities - grounds nicely manicured; clean pool/hot tub, lounge chairs - safe 1st floor unit; close to the pool/hot tub, lobby, ice machine - kitchenette + supplies, soap, paper towels; beach chairs + towels + cooler, etc - free in unit wi-fi (adequate @ times spotty; if needed, close enough to log into lobby wi-fi) Keep in mind, this is an older complex, so there aren't as many up-to-date amenities. Even though we couldn't have access to the on-site laundry or lobby amenities for hotel guests, all the IOB staff were helpful & friendly to us Clientele was a mix of families, seniors, couples; domestic & international. If you are on a budget and just need a safe, clean, comfortable place to shower & sleep; I would recommend staying here again. Adequate for 2 adults or 2 adults + 2 small children max; not enough 'elbow room' for 3-4 adults/teens. less

Great Place at Great Price

We had a wonderful time in #137. The location was perfect for us - near the ocean and near Coconut Market, with its farmers' market on Tuesdays and Thursdays and free shows outside the cultural centre on Wednesdays and Fridays. The unit is comfortable and attractive and well-stocked with little extras - like a cooler, thick beach towels, and beach chairs for picnics and swimming at the neighbouring Lydgate State Park. I really enjoyed the pool - it's bigger than the average private pool, and I was able to swim short laps in it, as most other visitors kept to the hot tub or the pool-side bar. We mostly did our own cooking - no hot plate but the microwave, toaster oven, small fridge, kettle and coffee pot got good use. That said, there was a very good and inexpensive eatery within the Islander complex. When we had a small problem with the condo - for instance the light in the tub burned out - the manager was very quick to take care of it. This is not a five-star hotel, and who needs that anyway? This is a convenient, comfortable, and affordable place to spend a memorable week or so. Note: there is a $75 cleaning fee every ten days of your stay. We avoided paying that twice by staying somewhere else for the first night of our eleven-day visit. And we liked the extra privacy of not having a maid come in every day. less

Owner/Manager Response

Aloha,   Thank you for your detailed review for the Islander on The Beach unit 137. This unit does have extra amenities such as the beach chairs, has a kitchenette that is very accommodating, is centrally located and very affordable.    This is an individual owned unit, so therefore there is not a daily maid service. Therefore if a guest has booked 10 days or more, a midstay clean is required to be able to keep the unit maintained. The unit at that time is cleaned just as if a new guests were coming in. Everything is cleaned, all new linens and bath towels supplied and amenities are replenished such as toilet paper at that time.

I loved this little place! Two double beds and a full bath with ac and TV. There is a mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and toaster oven in the room. Great Unit in a Nice Complex

Islander on the Beach When we first arrived at the Islander on the Beach, we weren't wowed. It is a modest smaller Condo complex, but the longer we were there the more it grew on us! The fellow guests and owners are super friendly and down to earth, the beach out front is nice (great sunrises!), the pool and bbq area is clean and well-kept, the grounds are well maintained, we loved the walking path that ran next to the beach for a few miles along the coast, my caffeine addicted husband loved the free morning coffee from 8-9am at reception, it was neat having a pool bar and loved that they brought in a band on Saturday nights (floating in the pool listening to live music is awesome!). The parking lot can get really full, but we usually got lucky, and there is a fire hydrant spot that we put to use for loading/unloading when we couldn't get a spot close to the unit. The coin-op laundry was handy to have on site too (also clean and well-maintained). Unit 137 Again, we weren't wowed we we first entered; it is modest, but nice. It was clean enough for us; it must be hard to keep the red mud stains and sand at bay, but they are doing it! The furnishings are getting a little tired, but good quality. The bedspreads could likely do for an update and 4 of 5 pillows are really hard. One bed is a softer mattress and one is firm, which we liked. We loved having extra blankets available for the beds too! The bathroom is a great size, the kitchenette is totally stocked with everything you would need (we cooked supper on the bbqs almost every night), they had beach chairs, two coolers, umbrella, and beach towels. We were set! It was also nice to have wifi in the unit (many seem not to). The location of the unit was absolutely perfect for us. The trade winds were blowing pretty hard for most of our stay but we were totally protected from them on our lanai, which is more important to me than a direct ocean view. It is close to the pool, bbqs, the beach, the parking lot, and reception. We felt totally safe and secure at all times in the condo and around the complex. Coconut Coast We really liked staying on the coconut coast, as we could easily access the north, west, and south parts of the island. There is also lots of shopping a really short drive (Safeway and Longs Drugs within 2 blocks) and the Coconut Marketplace right next door. The Fish Market, which is basically on the condo grounds had great fish tacos (best we had on Kauai), and we rented boogie boards at the place next door to them for $7 for a week! Aloha Condos Great to deal with! I cannot say how much I loved that "checking in" meant getting a key out of the little lock box at our unit. Nothing could be easier! They had a cleaner come in 1 week into our 2 week stay, which was nice to get the linens refreshed. There were no surprise fees before or after our stay. Overall We were really happy with this unit and Islander on the Beach complex! We thought that it was excellent value for our money and would definitely stay here again! less

Aloha, Thank you so much for your extensive review for unit 137 at the Islander on the Beach. It is a modest unit but does have everything you will need considering the great value. The resort is very centrally located on the island making getting to activities easy going North or South. We are happy to be able to provide the extra amenities such as the beach coolers, beach chairs and towels. You mentioned that you did rent boogie boards, however we do supply the boogie boards also in the units. We love condo 137

My husband and I have been staying an Aston islander condo 137 every year for the past few years. We just love the location!! We sit on the patio and watch the ocean! In the morning we walk down to the beach and take in the most breathtaking sunrise. Great food within walking distance. The room is decorated well and it is always clean! We love how the owner provides beach chairs, boogie boards, ice chest and beach towels. It truly is our home away from home. less

The room was very nice and had a better view than expected. You could see the ocean a little bit behind the pool. It was not too close to the pool to hear noise, however and not too far to make it difficult to walk to the pool It was nice to not have to climb any stairs. Very clean. Gift bad greeted us on table was very nice and we really needed a beach bag so came in handy. Loved this room & would recommend it to anyone! less

Great value condo on a beautiful island.

This condo is in a very handy location, close to the ammenities of Kapa'a and next door to the Coconut market place. Being on the ground floor it has a lovely lanai which overlooks the pool and only about a hundred metres to the beach (which you can see from the lanai). It is a little dated but in good and clean condition with a kitchenette (small) sufficient to make breakfast and sandwiches but would benefit from the addition of a salad bowl as there is a barbecue on site. Parking is provided free of charge which is also a bonus. Rates are extremely reasonable. The beds (two) are comfortable. The provision of free wifi is very much appreciated as are the thoughtful welcome gifts of chocolates etc. The information and support provided by the managing agents was excellent. I would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to my friends. Kauai is a beautiful island, perhaps the best of all! :) less

Nice Air conditioning & beds

The room is just a hotel size but good enough for our stay. (2 people) It may be too small for family and I recommend it for senior couple. The room is fully equipped with what we need and 2 full size beds are comfortable to sleep. Free internet access is nice and only we hope if there is a phone in the room. (because local call is toll free) New Japanese air conditioning is powerful and quiet. Parking space is limited, you may not find a slot when you arrive in the late evening and you have to park on the street, then you move your car next morning by 10:00. Nice stay

It was a great stay except with nice view to pool and beach. It was very well stuffed with things you don't want to buy extra like salt&pepper;, coffee filter etc. We got a free pack&play; for our little one to sleep in. The only bummer was the construction going on on the other building the 2nd week, which we didn't know it would be. And something to hang and dry your towels or swimsuits would be useful since you are not aloud to hang them over the lanai chairs. less

Islander on the Beach - Definitely on the Beach

This condo was conveniently located and right along the beach, shopping, farmers market and excusion outlets. The accommodations were adequate with a blender but wish there would have been a stove top for cooking. The front door was a little tempermental. The only other challenge was parking and having to pick up a permit for the overflow parking area nightly. excellent studio condo

We had a great two weeks at Islander in Unit 137. Our three complaints are that the automatic door closer is way too strong(as we have found in other units in the facility) and the door does not fit/close easily. Also, as is true in all the units at the Islander, the sliding glass door and the curtains are at odds with eachother; the door should have opened from the end, not the middle. Our unit was clean, stocked, and ground floor, with a short walk to the pool and beach. We'll stay there again. Lee chambers, Oregon less

April 18-23

This condo was wonderful. Free parking and wifi. It's on the bottom level of the three story condo which I thought I would not like but It was awesome to just open up the great big sliding glass door to walk to the pool which was steps away and also the hot tub and the bar! Also great when we had a handful of clothes to wash at the laundry room. It had everything we needed beach towels plenty of bath towels. We used the small fridge provide and got water bottles and other drinks and everyday filled the small cooler (also provided) with ice (there is an ice bin just steps away the front door) and had cold drinks for the car/beach. Saved us some money. Bought Kauia coffee and enjoyed that every morning on the patio. Our only bummer was that we noticed you can hear clanking of cabinet doors and if people are being a bit noisy you can hear it. When this happened we played our music softly and just tuned it out :-) we had to move to a resort for two days after because we didn't have the condo for 7 full days. Luxurious resort, but we had to pay for parking $14 a day and they wanted $13 for wifi !! Craziness. Also bonus was that grocery store was very close! Safeway is down the road. Wonderful stay

My boyfriend and I stayed at this unit for 8 days in December 2012 and to be honest we were a little worried as to what we would be staying in, because if you've compared prices to other hotels this unit was a steal. I was dreading being stuck in roach motel, but upon arrival I was very pleased with our choice of stay. First thing I noticed walking into the unit was how clean it looked and smelled. Before we found the unit though, we had some difficulty locating the unit, everyone we asked seemed to point us in the wrong direction, so a map of the grounds before hand may have been useful. However, the rental company was quick to help and answer any questions we had. The unit had many useful amenities that you would not have found staying at a regular hotel. Things such as real beach towels, like pretty colorful big ones. This was very fortunate for us as we decided to not pack, so this saved us money. There was nice welcome package with a tourist video, coffee, candies, and all sorts of things. Other things like BBQ utensils, ice chest, beach chairs, sand toys, and more also came in great use. The room had a decently sized bathroom and although we didn't use it much, the a/C unit was nice at time. They didn't want clothing hung off the furniture, a drying rack of some kind would have been useful. The pool and beach was just a short walk from the Lanai. We cooked food on the hotels brand new Bbq's and enjoyed the company of fellow travelers and locals at the tiki hut by the pool most nights. The only con I can think of that the beach isn't the nicest, but Kapaa is a great place to stay as it a good starting point to head North or South for the day which is what we did. We enjoyed the farmers market on Thursdays in coconut marketplace and all the stores there as well. I would definitely stay again! I gave them 5 stars based on what I was told I was purchasing and what I actually got for my money. less

Couldn't ask for a better value. The good: The owners make the most out of this small space. For example, the kitchenette is equipped with a mini-fridge, sink, and microwave but also a coffee pot (8-cup) and toaster oven. It also has dishes and utensils and 3 cutting boards (incl. 1 that is large enough to cover the sink, creating a little more work space). By being a little creative (heating water in the coffee pot, broiling steaks in the toaster oven), I found that this tiny kitchen had everything I needed to eat-in and minimize my food costs. There are also grills by the pool if you prefer that option. Some other nice touches: the beach towels and chairs are fantastic; the chairs at the little table are quite comfortable; I fell in love with the comforter; and they have an iPod docking station with alarm clock that I really enjoyed. They also provided a really good island guide book (on loan) and a journal for sharing experiences with owners/future guests. I took that guide book with me everywhere, it was so helpful. The bad (nitpicky things only): There are no carpets, all the floors are tiled. Easy to keep clean, but not pleasant to walk on 1st thing in the morning. I suggest you pack slippers or house shoes. The heavy privacy curtain opens/closes easily, but the thinner curtain gets stuck on the tracks - guess that one doesn't get opened as often. The air conditioner looks rusty, but works fine. The bathroom fan sounds like it needs some attention, and it's annoying that it comes on every time I turn the light on, but it works as it should. less
