This white sandy cove is located adjacent to Shark’s Bay with the two being divided only by a rock outcropping. Shark’s Cove is a nice spot for quiet relaxation or a private picnic, but like Shark’s Bay, this isn’t the best swimming beach because the ocean floor is quite rocky and strong currents often flow through this area. This area provides great views of the southern Lanai coastline, and offshore is Puu Pehe, or Sweetheart Rock, rising some 80 feet up from the sea. A rock outcropping separates Shark’s Cove from the larger Shark’s Bay, and both provide a more secluded experience than the more popular Hulopoe Beach nearby.
Great For
Sunbathing, picnics, afternoon nap.
Highlights
Adding to the idyllic setting of a beautiful white-sand beach and azure waters are red-hued lava rocks that create a unique atmosphere.
Need to Know
Explore and beach comb in this area but it is best to visit a safer Lanai beach for swimming due to the seafloor topography and ocean currents.
